How to care for your new concrete

     Q. What should I do to protect my new concrete from salt damage?
     A. Seal your concrete annually with a good industrial quality sealer.

    Q. Where can I get this sealer?
    A. You can buy it in five gallon or one gallon cans at Wisconsin Brick
          and Block on Nesbitt Road.

    Q. How do I apply the sealer?
    A. Just follow the directions on the sealer can. Either roll the sealer
on with a long handle roller or spray it on. Always use safety glasses!

    Q. When should I seal my driveway?
    A. Once a year in late summer or early fall before the leaves start
dropping. The procedure should take less than one hour for an
          average size driveway.

    Q. What happens if I don't seal my driveway or garage floor?
    A. Chances are the top layer of cement on your garage floor or driveway
will become corroded and weakened by the effects of the salt that
drips off your vehicles. It often looks like the top layer of concrete is
          is pealing off.

    Q. What can I do if I have ice covering my new concrete?
    A. Do not use salt in any form. True, ice covered surfaces are very
hazardous. Keep 50 pounds of crushed oyster shells on hand and
scatter it over icy areas, available at most feed mills. It makes a
good non-skid surface, although it may stick to shoes and track in the
house. (Take your shoes off at the door, kids).

    Q. What can I do if I am too busy, too lazy, or a procrastinator?
    A. You can call The Concrete Company. For a reasonable fee, we will
professionally seal your driveway and/or garage floor for you.
